It's hard to drum up the energy for compassion toward someone else who might be dealing with something as tough or tougher than I am in that moment. It's an art. A skill. Perhaps practice makes it easier.

Especially in our ultra-individualistic and consumerist society, innit!

I believe in practice, sometimes a hand on my shoulder helps me a lot....

Yes, with practice it could become like muscle memory. Happen with little effort to benefit both in an momentary interaction of two people struggling.

Our ever advancing technology seems more and more to be headed toward isolationism. Your poem reflects the need for community caring, how do they build that into a 0 1 database?

Wow. This brought tears to my eyes. I found this is so touching, so sensitive. What an incredible thing to do with your life to help these vulnerable people.

Wonderful poem. I wonder if you could print copies and offer it to anyone you think might need/like it? The deliverer, fellow walker, cashier, librarian. Or slip it into their bag without them noticing, like a benevolent anti-thief.

Oh Margo,

I am so afraid of the big package on the table, at the door, in your heart.

I had coffee w friends this morning and I believe one friend, the one who had trouble looking in the eyes of anyone else, must be carrying a heavy burden, but I didn't ask. Now, I will telephone her and listen for a smile, just a little one.

The wheels of our modern mega computer, and consumer society has designed over the past 100 years a more and more isolated and self oriented society…SIGH

Thank you yet again for reminding me to look, I mean really look close up at people who I come across. Where have they been before and where are they going? Have you noticed how fast people are driving lately? We all need a reboot to stop and see that we are all on the highway trying to get somewhere or escape from something.
