I just had the chance to read this, right after my daughter's teacher said that she felt like I was lecturing her because I was expressing my concern for her promoting a candy exchange during a class party, which is a horrible way to reward a child. But all I did was give her reasons why it was a bad idea and she just got defensive and rude about it but ensured me that she would change the plan. So, feeling very let down by her and then reading this really brought me back to life and made me realize that I did a great thing and that her teacher doesn't matter. You made me love Gordon too. Your love for him and the choices you make in this story are such intentional, life enhancing moments. I feel so happy now. Thanks for writing <3
